Author Speaking/Program Information
Program Planner’s Tool Box
Here are some tips on how to select the best speaker for your event.
1. Decide on the theme for the presentation and how you want it to impact your group.
2. Establish your date, time, and budget.
3. Attend a program of the speaker’s if possible, or talk to someone who has attended one.
4. Ask that the presentation be tailored to your group and be able to tell the speaker about the theme and what your group is like.
5. Find out if the speaker can or will help you with materials for promotion of the event. Ask him or her to write the introduction he/she would like for you to use at the meeting.
6. When you have made your decision and the speaker accepts, put the details of the arrangement in a confirmation letter, including fees to be paid i.e. travel expenses, meals, honorariums, permission to sell books during the meeting, and audio-visual requirements.
And you are prepared for a great meeting.
